‘Paula’ is a lovely sweet natured 14hh black mare who came over to us in May 2003 from the Shepparton Stud, UK. She settled into her new surroundings very quickly. She ran out with our stallion Dene Teviot from July 2003, and on the 5th September 2004 had a nice black colt foal, Globetrotter Quail ‘Q’. Paula and her foal “Q” spent the summer and autumn months of 2004 running out with the other mare and her foal, 'Faye' and 'Sugar'. In March 2005 “Q” was weaned from Paula, who ran out with the herd and stallion for the spring and summer of 2005, but in the autumn of 2005 she proved not to be in foal, so we thought it might be best for her to come up and be in the home fields and start doing some light training, i.e. long reining, getting her used to traffic etc. Paula enjoyed the work very much and it didn't take long in getting her going under saddle. We think that she will make a very good riding pony, also being good at cross country and WHP classes. Paula is currently being trained to harness.

'Paula' surprised us at the beginning of the 2006 by being in foal to Dene Teviot, very sadly she lost her filly foal at birth through the placenta being faulty, a problem known as 'red bag'; this was a huge upset for both the mare and us. Paula re-started her training last autumn under saddle, and has come on very well. She is currently being long reined & lightly schooled to develop more muscle and confidance. She is a nice forward going ride with a good walk and trot, we have enjoyed taking her to a few randonnées during 2007 to gain more experience.
